没有看错，祖师爷真的开始使用 AI Coding 了，在最近的一次 Linux 内核提交[1] 的 commit(这个 commit 主要是优化内核的一个性能问题) 里有这么一段内容：
The code, the test programs, the review behind the list above and the first draft of this text were done with an LLM coding assistant (Claude Code) under my direction. The measurements were run on my machine.
简单来说就是 CC 在他的指导下做了初稿、测试代码编写等，但是性能测试还是在他自己电脑上运行的（猜测还是他自己去查看了结果，目前更相信自己）
Linus 对使用 AI 这件事情一直挺微妙的，在 2023 年的 Open Source Summit[2] 访谈中他是这么说的：
[20:07] machine code anymore. We don't even write assembler. And now we're moving on from C to Rust. So I don't see this as something as revolutionary as all the news talk is every day about AI. It's not an area I obviously-- work with. I'm still very low level. I got into kernels because I love the low level hardware details and that's why I'm still there. But so you say you expect this can help people write code, this can help people get started.
大概意思是：自动化早就在帮助人们编程：编译器取代了许多手工汇编工作，新工具的出现并不意味着编程从此变成一件完全不同的事情。那时他仍然专注于自己熟悉的底层内核开发，AI 也不是一件革命的事情。
2024 年在接受采访： Linus Torvalds: 90% of AI marketing is hype[3] 说 AI 90% 都是营销
2025 年 11 月，The Register 报道了他在韩国 Open Source Summit[4] 的访谈。那时他明确表示，自己还没有实际使用或体验 AI 辅助编程工具。
Torvalds is not using or even playing with AI-assisted coding, though he said: \"I'm sure people are looking at it even for the kernel codebase.\"
Regarding vibe coding[5] , Torvalds described himself as \"fairly positive\" – but not for kernel development. Computers have become more complicated than when he learned to code and was \"typing in programs from computer magazines.\" Vibe coding, he said, is a great way for people to \"get computers to do something that maybe they couldn't do otherwise.\"
今年 2026 年 10 月 9 日，在布拉格举行的 Open Source Summit Europe[6] 上，Linus 表示自己现在确实很喜欢使用 AI。

的 UI 界面就是用 AI 实现的。
He continued: \"I love the concept of AI as a gateway drug because I was working on my own toy project, the guitar pedal[8] , and I knew what I was doing. I had a user interface that I had written myself in C that was running on a microcontroller that was running on this small screen, and I was like, \"This is just stupid. It looks like something from the '80s; I wanted it to look like something from this century. But I don't do Java. I do kernels.\"
\"So, I use AI to do the things that I'm bad at,\" Torvalds went on, \"I'd seen all the same YouTube videos you have. Give AI a prompt, and it will do it. So I gave it a prompt, and it did it, and it was horrendous. Then I said, 'Hey, look! I already did this in C. I did it the right way. It's just ugly.\"
直到现在 Linus 也没有明确的说自己为什么突然开始在内核代码里使用 AI 了，但是根据他过往的一些公开言论可以推断出有以下一些原因：

AI 的实际能力提高了，随着 Opus、GPT5 等最新模型的发布，已经可以足够解决实际问题了，甚至是 linux 这种底层的内核代码
2
Coding Agent 能力也有巨大提高，可以直接完成某一个工作流。
更加确定了资深的工程师可以更加发挥出 AI 的价值，开发者需要站在更高的维度去设计工作流、引导方案，将更繁琐的代码和测试流程交给 AI 去完成。
只不过这些经验对刚入职场的新人来说确实有点难，今后如何培养一个初级工程师到高级工程师还需要整个社会一起解决。
